Timmy cannot seem to find one of his socks. He knows he put both in the washer, but only one came back home to him. He wonders, does his remaining sock miss his mate, the same way he misses his Mommy? Ever since she went away, taken by her sickness, he has had that ache that has never quite left him.

His socks are nice and warm, and fuzzy against his skin. They hug him all day long, just like his Mommy used to do when his mind was all tangled up inside with worry. At night, his socks guard his feet against all of those lurking monsters that are under his bed. They help him in the same way that Mommy use to do as she tucked him into bed at night.

Each time Timmy places his socks in the washer, he’s reminded of how his Mommy used to bathe him every night. Her tender hands rinsing away his daily troubles. When his socks emerge from the washer and then the dryer, fresh and clean, they are wrapped in the same quiet care that his Mommy gave to him every night.

But one night, not so long ago, Timmy had a dream, a special one. He found himself floating, he’s drifting far beyond a friendly-looking twinkling star, to a place where all lost things go. This land is known to the fortunate dreamers as Nowhereland, tucked into the center of a place called Everywhereville.
